APOGEE

An interactive 3D mission globe that replays the entire SpaceX Starship test campaign, from the 2019 Starhopper hops through IFT-12, on a cinematic Earth.

Pick any flight, press play, and watch the booster and ship animate in mission time. Planned and actual paths are drawn separately, mission phases are highlighted, and a broadcast-style telemetry hub reports speed, altitude, engine status and the phase timeline as the clock runs.

Vehicle evolution

Starhopper2019
Single-stage stainless test article (9 m wide). One Raptor 1 engine. Tethered, 20 m and 150 m hops. No booster.
Prototypes (SN5 to SN15)2020 to 2021
Full-diameter Starship upper-stage prototypes. SN5 and SN6: 1 Raptor. SN8 to SN15: 3 Raptors. 150 m hops, then 10 to 12.5 km belly-flop and flip tests. Still no Super Heavy.
Block 1 / V12023 to 2024 · IFT-1 to 6
First integrated stack, about 121 m tall. Super Heavy booster: 33 Raptor 2. Starship V1: 6 Raptors (3 sea-level + 3 vacuum). Introduced hot-staging and the first tower catch.

Taller, higher-propellant Starship with redesigned forward flaps and more payload. Super Heavy: 33 Raptors. Ship: 6 Raptors. First Starlink-simulator deploys and in-space relights.

Engine layout

Every integrated booster flies 33 Raptors arranged as 3 center gimbal engines, an inner ring of 10, and an outer ring of 20. The Starship stage flies 6 Raptors: 3 sea-level engines in the center and 3 vacuum-optimised engines around them. The telemetry hub lights each one to that flight's real ignition sequence.

Raptor engines

Raptor 1~185 tf
Full-flow staged-combustion methalox engine. Flew on Starhopper and the SN prototypes.
Raptor 2~230 tf
Simplified and more powerful. Powered Block 1 and Block 2 (33 on the booster, 6 on the ship).
Raptor 3~280 tf
Further integrated with fewer parts and more thrust. Debuts on Block 3 (IFT-12).

Data and method

Every trajectory here is reconstructed from publicly available information: SpaceX launch pages and webcasts, public mission recaps, FAA and NASA releases, and reputable reporting. Paths are estimated from launch azimuth, staging time, apogee, downrange and splashdown region using great-circle and ballistic interpolation. They approximate the publicly observed flight, not private telemetry. Altitudes are exaggerated for visibility on globe scale. Each flight carries a confidence rating and a source list, and all reconstructed geometry is labelled as estimated. Engine and thrust figures are approximate public values.

Every mission is compiled from public, cross-checked sources, then reconstructed into the per-flight schema this site animates. Primary outlets:
